The 2nd article lends itself to a lot of interesting analysis but you don't take the opportunity fully. There is possibility of bias - either against the victim who's portrayed as wild, or the policemen could be painted in this way to create a sensation. So when you simply take the report as fact and criticise the police, you are also guilty of bias. The 1st article is by far superior, as it provides a more sensitive response and offers other plausible perspectives beyond the surface of the article.
